1955
The 1955 meeting was held at NYUCD, and the call to order was announced by the Academy’s first president, Jerome M. Schweitzer, DDS
1956
The 1956 meeting was initiated with the call to order by the only two-term President in Academy history, Jerome M. Schweitzer, DDS
1958
In 1958 the meeting had, for the first time, presentations by non-East Coast individuals
1959
GNYAP meeting moves to the Barbizon Plaza Hotel for the first non-dental school venue
1961
In 1961 the Saturday-Sunday format changed to Friday afternoon/evening-Saturday
1967
1967 provided the initial presentation of the Jerome M and Dorothy Schweitzer Research Award to Dr. Raymond Nagle
1970
The 10:45am “Coffee Recess” was initiated at the 1970 Meeting
1974
In 1974 at 5pm, the inagural cocktail reception immediately followed the last case presentation
1980
For the first time, a meeting was dedicated. Dr. W. Campbell Hudson (1895-1980), a founding Fellow and Past President of the Academy

The recipient of the Schweitzer Award was P I Branemark, MD, PhD; his lecture topic, “Osseointegrated Implants”

For the second time, in 1985, the Fall Scientific Meeting was dedicated. The recipient, Dr. William H Pruden II (1925-1985), was a past Academy president

The first year the Fall Scientific Meeting was sponsored by the GNYAP Foundation. The meeting was dedicated to Dr. Robert D Schweitzer
1989
The 1989 meeting was dedicated to the memory of Dr. Jerome M Schweitzer (1897-1989). He was the only Academy president honored with a two year term
1991
The 1991 meeting was dedicated to the memory of Raymond J Nagle, DDS (1901-1991), a charter Fellow and second president of the Academy
1992
The 1992 scientific meeting took place in the Grand Ballroom of The Plaza hotel
1998
The 1998 meeting was cohosted by the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada, celebrating their 25th anniversary
1998
This was the first year which required “Conflict of Interest Disclosure” for the speakers participating in the scientific sessions
2003
The Forty-Ninth Scientific Meeting was the second joint meeting held by the Academy with the Japanese Prosthodontic Society
2004
The 50th anniversary of the GNYAP. The last year the meeting was held at the Plaza and the Saturday night dinner was held at the Rainbow Room.
2005
The meeting was moved to JAZZ at Lincoln Center.
2008
Nancy Arbree became the first female president of the GNYAP
2017
Due to scheduling conflicts the 2017 meeting was held in January of 2018.
2020
The COVID-19 pandemic causes the closure of dental offices and a nationwide stay-at-home order.
2020
The Annual Scientific Program was cancelled due to the global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic
